Barbara Jean Akins

Barbara Jean Akins, 78, of Batesville died Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was born April 4, 1940 at Batesville, Arkansas to William Earnest and Genevie Treadway Sanders. She was a retired LPN and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Duane Sanders; and one sister, Pat Young.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, William Akins of the home; one daughter, Judy Akins of Batesville; several nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lee’s Chapel Cemetery near Moorefield with Larry Sellers officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
