Barbara Dianne Womack

Barbara Dianne Wilbanks Womack, 72, of Batesville, AR passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. She was born September 30, 1950 to Barbara and John Wilbanks in Batesville, AR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Womack of Maumelle; her parents, Barbara and John Wilbanks of Batesville; and her brother, John R. Wilbanks of New York.

Survivors include her two sons, John R. Thomas and wife Suzanne of Ward and Trenton G. Thomas of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Max and Emma Thomas of Ward; and extended family, Tim West and wife Najat of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Getting her Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas in 1972, Dianne spent most of her professional life working as an advocate and educator for disabled children; beginning that journey at the Community School of Batesville. Her career as an educator and advocate was marked by characteristic selflessness, which led her to be personally invested in the lives and outcomes of the students in her care.

In addition to her career as an educator, Dianne was crucial partner in building a successful business, Metro Foods, with her husband Gil, and was a partner in owning and operating several restaurants in the Little Rock area.

Dianne dearly loved her friends and family and enjoyed spending time laughing at old stories, working in the yard, and enjoying a meal together. She will forever be remembered for her amazing cooking skills and the spectacular meals she would prepare for family occasions.

Dianne was adored by everyone she encountered and she touched many lives throughout her life. She will be missed sorely and forever loved.

Memorial services will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 p.m.
