Betty dedicated much of her life to raising her family and working on the family farm. She was well known for maintaining her 50-acre property in Batesville up until two years ago. She loved the outdoors and her animals, finding joy in burning leaves, cutting wood, gardening, and mowing the grass. Her zest for life and love of nature was evident to everyone who met her. She brought happiness to those around her, deeply cherished time with her family, and found great delight in decorating, reading, and sewing.
Survivors include her loving daughters and son-in-laws, Sandra and Gary Deaton, and Charlotte and Stuart Hill; her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Olga Allen, and Joe and Lisa Allen; and her cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Dunkerson, Ashley and Chris Pearson, Matthew Dunkerson, Morgan and Joshua Scheib, Jakob, David, Daniel, Byron, Joshua, Michael, and Abigail Allen, Natasha and Clay Gardner, and Krysta Hill. She also leaves behind 17 great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sue Lumpkin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Allen; her brothers, Rudolph, Bill, Jack, and Robert Lumpkin; and her sister, Sarah Forbus.
