Bro. Grayden Milligan

Grayden Milligan of Cave City passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in Columbia, MO surrounded by his family. He was born December 23, 1929 in Strawberry to Roy Melvin and Lillie Mae Green Milligan. He served in the United States Army, retired from the United States Postal Service, a Missionary Baptist Minister for 61 years and a skilled carpenter. He received his honorary high school diploma from Cave City High School in 2019 and received his Bachelor of Biblical Theology from Missionary Baptist Seminary. Grayden married the love of his life, Daphene James on July 3, 1954 at First Baptist Church in Cave City.

Grayden is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Daphene; his parents in law, Daniel and Girtha Brogdon James; his sisters, Maxola Foster, Jean Mize, Lannie Crock; his brothers, Kimbrew Milligan and Kelmer Milligan.

He is survived by his daughter, Cyndi Hendrix of Columbia, MO; his grandson, Danny and Trisha Heflin of Columbia, MO; his precious great grandchildren, Bryson and Lincoln Heflin of Columbia, MO; his sister, Walase Perkey White of Cave City along with many other family and friends who he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 12 - 2 p.m. at the Cave City High School Gym. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Bobby Sanders, Bro. Curt Howard and Bro. John Sanders officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery east of Cave City.

Pallbearers will be Rick Milligan, Donald Milligan, Joe Allen White, Keith Mize, Terry Wooldridge, Michael Wooldridge, Kurt Meskimen, Jeffery Meskimen, Justin Meskimen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Mize, Eddie Foster, Gary Guthrie, Ken McCormack, Mark Brown, Johnny Barr, Gary Foley, Steven Green, the past and present pastors of the Spring River Association and the Cole County Sheriff’s Office in Jefferson City, MO.
