Christopher Allen Clark-Sumner, 42, passed away on March 8, 2026. Chris was born on August 25, 1983, in Phoenix Arizona, to Denise Marie Clark and Patrick Allen Sumner. At the age of four, Chris moved to Arkansas with his mother, stepfather, Bud Michael, and little sister Crystal, where he was raised and spent most of his life building the family connections and friendships that shaped the man he became. At eighteen, Chris answered the call to serve his country by joining the Army National Guard. During his military service, he completed two tours in Iraq and received multiple awards and commendations recognizing his courage and dedication. Those who served alongside him knew him as someone who took his duty seriously and who stood firmly beside the people he was charged to protect. After returning home, Chris continued a life dedicated to helping others by entering the medical field. He began his career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, later became a Licensed Practical Nurse, and ultimately earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Chris graduated with honors and quickly distinguished himself through his skill, work ethic, and deep compassion for the people in his care. Over eleven years as a registered nurse, Chris became known not only for his clinical ability but also for the kindness and humanity he brought to his patients. His empathy and gentle nature left lasting impressions on many families. He was honored with the DAISY Award multiple times after being nominated by patients whose lives he touched through his compassion and dedication.

Above all, Chris was a man who loved his family deeply. His devotion to protecting and supporting the people he cared about was unwavering. His role as a father meant everything to him.

Chris is survived by his children, Cameron Carrier, Courtney Austin, Olivia Rider, Mason Sumner, and Bennett Sumner; and his six beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Patrick Allen Sumner; his stepfather, Bud Michael; his sisters, Octavia Sumner, Alicia Marie Crawford, and Crystal Dawn McWhirter; his brother, Wesley Daniel Michael; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Marie Clark.

Like many who have served in combat and dedicated their lives to caring for others, he carried burdens that were not always visible to the outside world. Yet those who knew him best remember a man who was courageous, compassionate, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. Chris lived a life defined by service. He served his country with honor, he cared for the sick and vulnerable with compassion, and he loved his family with a protectiveness that knew no limits.

Though his life ended too soon, the impact he made through his bravery, kindness, and devotion will live on in the many lives he touched. Christopher Allen Clark-Sumner will be remembered as a soldier, a healer, a protector, and a deeply loved father, son, brother, and friend.
