Edward Glen Mohlke

July 18, 1940 — May 2, 2019

 

Edward Glen Mohlke, 78, of Batesville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2019. 

He was born July 18, 1940 in Jamestown, Arkansas, to Chris Washington Mohlke and Floy Creech Mohlke. 

Glen was a Southern Baptist who served faithfully as a Deacon in the church for more than 40 years and was a member at West Baptist Church. He was an active board member for Farm Bureau of Independence County for more than 30 years. Glen gave 6 years of military service in the U.S. Army National Guard 153rd Infantry Division. 

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Pearlean (James) Mohlke; two daughters, Katrina Stevens (Randy) and Selina Wallis (Tracy), both of Batesville; sister, Gwen Gibson (Willie); four brothers, Carroll Mohlke (Carol) Don Mohlke (Amy), Jack Mohlke (Donna), and Freddie Mohlke (Lorie); 6 beloved grandchildren, Kayla House (Michael), Kinley Stevens, Hayden Anderson (Kaelin), Hudson Anderson, Ashley Taylor (Dustin), and Rachel Lovell (Andy)  and 10 precious great-grandchildren, Cannon, Talon, Rowan, and Haven House, Kennedi Anderson, Makenna, Scarlett, and Cooper Taylor, Sadie and Weston Lovell; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris & Floy Mohlke; and his grand-daughter, Rachel Kay Stevens. 

Visitation will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 4, 2019 at West Baptist Church, 1100 North Central, Batesville, AR. A celebration of life will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Randy Stevens, Tracy Wallis, Hayden Anderson, Hudson Anderson, Eric Mohlke and Peyton Weaver.

Honorary pallbearers are Carroll Mohlke, Don Mohlke, Jack Mohlke, Freddie Mohlke, Jerry Doyle, Charlie Campbell, Scott Davidson, Jim Lytle, Bob Weaver and Jerry Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideon’s International or West Baptist Church or the new Veteran’s memorial at Sulphur Rock. For information on the memorial, submit donations to: Brenda J. Horn, P.O. Box 42, Sulphur Rock, AR 72579.
