Erma Jean Lindsey

Erma Jean Lindsey, 74, of Walnut Grove went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 6, 2025. She was born February 18, 1951 in Cave City to John and Irma Smith.

She served in many roles at Cord Baptist Church and was active in the women’s ministry. Jean retired from ConAgra after 20 years of service and then ran a home daycare for 18 years, where she lovingly cared for many children in her community. She enjoyed the simple pleasures like sitting on her porch, gardening and watching hummingbirds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 57 years, Bill Lindsey; her infant son; brother, John William Smith; sisters, Wilamae “Dude” Runyan, Alla Mae Lantz; her father and mother in law; nephews, David Lantz, Samuel Lantz; niece, Melinda Coyne; sister in laws, Bonnie Stone and Wiledean Coyne.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Lindsey of Walnut Grove; twin daughters, Christy Hutchison of Walnut Grove, Misty Fike (Jason) of Maple Springs and one brother, Jerry Smith (Tammy) of Cave City.

Jean was a proud grandmother to John McDoniel (Katie), Justin Fike (Allie), Alex Fike (Olivia), Tyler Lindsey, Bradon Lindsey, Tatum Lindsey, Logan Hutchison, Lindsey Hutchison, Legan Hutchison; great-grandchildren, Marlie McDoniel, Braylen Fike along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at the Cord Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Homes.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Holland, Wayne Smith, Jerry Coyne, Danny Burns, Jason Fike and Alex Fike.

Honorary pallbearers are the Cord Baptist Women’s Ministry.
