Ernest Mac Harmon

Ernest Mac Harmon, 96, of Desha, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born May 28, 1929 in Desha, Arkansas to Wilsie Lawson and Vela Harmon. He owned a floor finishing business and was a member of the Desha Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, he loved animals and outside work and spending time with all his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Julia Kelley Harmon; and an infant daughter, Jill Harmon.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Ferguson (Mike) of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and Cynthia Murphree (David) of Silex, Missouri; grandchildren, Dave Murphree Jr. (Lauri) of Lake St. Louis, Missouri and Brock Ferguson (Kristen) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Lawson and Jackson Murphree, and their mother, Diane Murphree, Chanie Lindsey, Graham, Sloan and Mac Ferguson; three great – great grandchildren, Trip, Ellie and Kallyn; along with other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha with Bro. Josh Swinea officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel.

Pallbearers are his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Desha Baptist Church or Independence County Humane Society.
