Gale Broyles Ponder, 75, of Owasso, Oklahoma died Saturday, October 20, 2018. She was born November 4, 1942 at Greenville, Mississippi to Pendley Marteal and Helen Lavada Morphis Howard. She worked for many years for First National Bank in Batesville and Newport and was a member of First Baptist Church in Batesville. She was secretary of the Arkansas Turkey Federation. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, turkey hunting, deer hunting, and squirrel hunting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bruce Broyles; twin brother, Dale Lee Howard; and great-grandson, Fisher Young.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Ponder of the home; one son, Michael Broyles of Batesville; one daughter, Angelia Kim Wann (Matt) of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Malcom James Howard (Joyce) of Batesville; one sister, Helen Hawkins (Champ) of Batesville; three grandchildren, Spencer Young (Britney), Gale Wann, and Nancy Wann; two great-grandchildren, Meritt Young and Paxton Young; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Matt Wann officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Broyles, Matt Wann, Gale Wann, Champ Hawkins, Thomas Howard and Danny Garner.
Honorary Pallbearers are Spencer Young, Kevin Howard, Nancy Wann, Charles Womble, Ralph Ponder, and Mike Ponder.
