Harvey L. Byrd, 72 of Sidney, Arkansas passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was born March 16, 1949 in Evening Shade, Arkansas to Robert L. and Lizzie (Edgar) Byrd.
After being drafted to the U.S. Army, he served as tank commander for 2/11 Black Horse Division and attained the rank of Sergeant. He served in the Vietnam War and was a three time Purple Heart decorated soldier. He was also a retired pipeliner and diesel mechanic. He was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willard Byrd and one sister, Betty Jean Gann.
Survivors include two sons, Dakota Lee Byrd (Kendra) of Sidney and Craig Byrd (Christie) of Cave City; one brother, Michael Byrd (Bonnie) of Cave City; three sisters, Betsy Davis (Raymond) of Batesville, Sharon Kay Morgan and Billie Jo Byrd both of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Diesel Lee Byrd of Sidney, Ashley Byrd of Cave City and Sandra Byrd (Greyson) of Maryland; two great grandchildren, Julien and Alyric of Maryland; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sidney with Bro. Michael (Chick) Wolford officiating. Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Byrd, Craig Byrd, Sterlin Wallace, Jeffery Russell, Dale Mifflin, Ronnie Schulz, Will Beck and Archie Westmoreland.
