Ila Hinson Rasmussen

February 28, 1934 — October 27, 2022

Ila V. Hinson Rasmussen, 88, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 in Southside, AR. She was born February 28, 1934 to Marvin and Dollie Kent Hinson in Evening Shade, AR.

She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was kind, caring and compassionate. She was a caregiver for twenty seven years, worked at Wood-Lawn Nursing Home for sixteen years and then private sitting.

Ila loved to travel, she visited all 50 states and Niagara Falls. She enjoyed gardening and working in her lawn. Enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether climbing Sugarloaf Mountain or canoeing down the Buffalo River, she had an adventurous life. She was an avid Razorback Basketball fan. Having graduated from Evening Shade School in 1952, she played four years of basketball. She led the class of “Young at Heart” at the Independence Senior Center. She loved her beloved cats Callie and Kitten. She was a member of First Baptist Church for many years. She lived a simple and honest life. She loved God, her family of God, as well as her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Douglas Rasmussen; one sister, Cloyce Bryan; two brothers, John Hinson and Sonny Hinson; her son in law, Juan Johnson and grand dog Hossie.

Survivors include daughter, Helen Sneed of Milwaukee, WI; son, Howard Sneed of Fresno, CA; daughter, Lisa Johnson of the home; grandson, Jason Scherr (Crystal) of Milwaukee, WI; great grandson, Jacob Scherr of Milwaukee, WI; sister, Barbara Smith of Cowata, OK and a grand dog, Jumper. Along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Stacy Reed officiating. A private burial will be held at the Maxville Cemetery in Cave City on a later date.

Honorary pallbearers are her Sunday School class and all her nieces and nephews.
