Lavern Dickey

Lavern Dickey, 89, of Cord passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born October 20, 1935 at Dowdy to Ollie Beatrice (Matheny) Dickey and Norvil “Short” Dickey. He was married to Jean (Reschke) Dickey (1934-2005) for 52 years and to Karen Dickey from 2008 to 2025.

Survivors include his children, Debra Dickey, Darrell Dickey, Jeanette Stewart (Randall), Warren Dickey; grandchildren, Adam Liang, Rachel Moore (Josh), Josh Dickey (Tiffany), Jeff Dickey (Whitney), Jessica Dickey, Cody Dickey (Mollie), Randy Hooper (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Thomas Moore, Hudson Dickey, Finley Dickey, Maddox Dickey, Kallie Hooper, and soon to arrive Winston Dickey; siblings, Eyvonne Nelson (Bill), Dwyane Halcom (Lelia), Gale Black (Duke), Annette Rogers, and Jim Halcom, their children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Also to remember him are the sisters, brother, spouses, nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families of his large and devoted extended family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 2, 2025, 11:30 A.M. at the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery located in Dowdy.

Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Homes.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 10:00 to service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Adam Liang, Josh Dickey, Jeff Dickey, Cody Dickey, Randy Hooper, and Aaron Turner.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Rachel Moore and Jessica Dickey.
