Lavonda Lynn Muston

September 8, 1957 — January 27, 2022

Following a beautifully courageous yearlong battle, with non-small cell carcinoma, Lavonda Lynn Qualls Muston age 64, of Evening Shade, Arkansas passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday January 27, 2022. She was born on September 8, 1957, to Thomas Jewell and Elizabeth Faith (Kackley) Qualls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son, Bruce Wayne Muston, and her niece, Maranda Leigh Estes Verser.

Lynn left behind her loving husband of 47 years, Melvin Bruce Muston of Evening Shade Arkansas.  They were wed on August 17, 1974 in the First Baptist Church of Evening Shade with Rev. Leonard Muston officiating.  She is also survived by one son, Tommylen Courtney Muston and wife Kristi Deann (Garner) Muston of Batesville, Arkansas; one daughter Elizabeth Amber Muston of Evening Shade Arkansas; along with 5 cherished grandchildren Madilynn Elizabeth Winey, Johnathan Daniel Bruce Berryhill, Cameron Wayne Muston, Katelynn Fay Muston, and Shelbi Mae Muston of Arkansas; one brother Jeff Qualls and wife Karyn of Evening Shade, Arkansas; one sister, Dianne Moore and husband Randal of Evening Shade, Arkansas; as well as a host of other family members and friends who became family.

Lynn was the type of person that did everything with complete dedication and she dedicated her life to serving others. She began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1982. She worked for 16 years in the clinical setting until 1998 when she took over care of her mother who also had cancer. During the years to follow she always kept her license and continued her studies in hopes of being able to go back to work fulltime. But God had other plans and she believed that with full faith and over the next several years she cared for her mom, grandma, and dad until they passed away. Even with Lynn being so sick she still renewed her nursing license one last time, because her motto was, “Once you’re a nurse, you’re always a nurse and you’re never not needed.”

She ran a dog kennel with Bruce for 20 years, housing over 200 dogs, winning many awards for how well the animals were cared for.  She took such pride in the kennel and the puppies that were produced. She worked around the clock for sick puppies and cleaned kennels till her hands bled.

There will never be enough words to describe her strength and courage throughout this process.  Not once did she lose sight of her faith in the Lord and she believed He would heal her one way or another.  He healed her and she is suffering no more.  I know that she was greeted at the gate with open arms.   I have full faith that He only takes the best and she was by far the best.  Best wife, best mother, best granny, best sister, best aunt, best friend.  She was something to so many and we are forever thankful for the time we were blessed to have her in our lives to love.

We welcome all family and friends to attend a celebration of life service that will be held at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City on Sunday January 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Scott Humphrey officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
