Linda Kaye Bowers Ivie

Linda Kaye Bowers Ivie, 68, of Batesville passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022.  Born September 4, 1953, she was the daughter of Carl and Irma Dean Bowers of Southside.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Batesville. She earned a biology degree from Arkansas College and a master's degree and education specialist degree from Arkansas State University. She taught for the Batesville School District for 29 years, and loved hosting the science fair each year and attending sporting events. She loved her students and loved helping them out. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would often pick up her grandchildren at school and take them to get Sonic or ice cream. She loved reading and used to read a handful of books each week and then trade them in at Paper Chase Book Store, collecting everything from horror and suspense to sci-fi and romance. She also loved scary movies and would sit up late to watch them. 

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Rayburn "Oggie" Ivie; three daughters, Melanie (Kevin) Smith of Cherokee Village, Allison (Wesley) Evans of Batesville, and Bridget (Lee) Felton of Seward, Alaska; one son, Brian Ivie of Melbourne; one brother, Jimmy Bowers; three sisters, Lesa Smith, Teresa Smith, and Barbara Smart; nine grandchildren, Brian Gould, Tyler Felton, Ashley Tate, Jeremy Felton, Makenna Ivie, Mason Evans, Rylan Ivie, Grady Ivie, and Logan Evans; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 5:00 p.m.at the First Church of the Nazarene in Batesville.   Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. the Crossroads Cemetery in Pineville, Arkansas with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Evans, Logan Evans, Mason Evans, Kevin Smith, Tristan Tate and Brian Gould.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1611 Harrison Street, Batesville, AR  72501.
