Mary Jane Hix, 84 of Batesville, Arkansas was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 4:45 a.m. in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born November 28, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to Ebby Guy and Floy Shreve. She was an LPN for many years and of the Christian faith. She found joy in cooking, canning, painting, camping, fishing, flowers, and loved her puppy, “Patches.” In later years, she always enjoyed her morning Dr. Pepper and Twinkie even though she was Diabetic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Shreve and Darrell Shreve; one stepson, Malcom Hix III; and one step grandson, Cadin Robinson
She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Malcom Hix Jr. of the home; one son, Kenny R. Allen (Sihong Zhou) of Cumming, Georgia; one daughter, Debra Edgin of Batesville, Arkansas; two stepdaughters, Tammy Milligan (Bryan) of Cave City, Arkansas and Samantha Thorne (Donnie) of Batesville, Arkansas; two brothers, Harold Shreve (Cora) of Bryant, Arkansas and Ebby Shreve of Cave City, Arkansas; one sister in law, Annetta Shreve of Cave City, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Dustin Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Homes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeromy Edgin, Jonathan Edgin, Josh Gates, Derek Allen, Malcom Hix IV and Lance Edgin.
Honorary pallbearers are Jason Edgin, Christian Edgin, Cadin Edgin, Zachary Edgin and Donald Thorne III.
