Opal Sturch

September 26, 1924 — November 29, 2020

 

Opal Sturch, 96 of Southside went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020.  She was born on September 26, 1924 in Cave City, Arkansas to Coy and Daisy Staggs and was married to her loving husband, Winfred D. Sturch, for 68 years until his passing in December of 2012.

She was a charter member of Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist church located at Southside and served as church secretary for many years.  She also served as choir director for many years as well as participating in several Easter Passion plays. She was retired from International Shoe Factory where she worked as payroll clerk.   She loved to cook, garden with her husband and loved all her pets.  Her home was always the center piece for holiday gatherings and dinners.  She had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit.  Her church family knew her to be a devout Christian and an example to all.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Daisy Staggs; her husband, Winfred D. Sturch and her sister, Alverda Harris.

Survivors include her children, Sheila Sturch, Keith Sturch (Pauline), Shara Reinheardt (Fred) all of Batesville, Kim Ferguson (Keith) of Simi Valley, California and Lisa Bigger (Ted) of Marion; one brother, Coy Vaughn Staggs (Betty) of Clayton, California; six grandchildren, Eric Pueblo (Hanna) of Westminster, Colorado, Erin Pueblo of Parkville, Maryland and Krista Pallera (Darren) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Hannah Caldwell (Preston) of Batesville, Hayley Postlewait (Denton) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Matt Reinheardt of Batesville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Tim Landers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery in Salado.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

 The family wishes to thank the staff of Pioneer Nursing Home for the loving care given to their beloved mother.
