Roy Mitchell Sr.

Roy Mitchell Sr., 87, passed away Thursday, January, 24, 2019 in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born April 29, 1931 in Marion, Michigan to Ernst and Florence (Wise) Mitchell. He was drafted into the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War until 1954. On June 17, 1972 he married Yvonne Joan Haner (Beebe) and they never left each other’s side until his passing. He was a member of The Operating Engineers Union where he built many roads and airports until 1991. He was a life member of the VFW in Marion, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marion Donald “Doc”, Ernst, Kenneth, Edward, and Fredrick Mitchell; and sisters, Dorothy “Dort” Strahota and Elizabeth “Betty” Rickman.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne Mitchell; son, Roy Mitchell Jr.; and sister, Beatrice DuVall; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
