Seth "Bud" Whitaker

Seth “Bud” Whitaker, 74 of Poughkeepsie died Monday, July 1, 2019 at his home. He was born December 5, 1944 at Marshall, Arkansas to Eugene Warren and Dorothy Lee Gaines Whitaker. He was a retired over the road truck driver with 38 years of service. He worked 17 years for Baldwin Piano and retired from Tyson Foods at the age of 66. He was accident free for his entire career and received many safety awards. He enjoyed working in his garden and raising beautiful tomatoes. He was a member of the Cave City Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Whitaker; daughter, Tina Whitaker and a sister, Loretta Reed.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Whitaker of the home; son, Paul Whitaker (Amanda) of Smithville; daughter, Michelle Clemons of Higden; brother, Robert Whitaker of Conway; two grandsons, Billy Ray Clemons and Brad Clemons both of Higden; two great grandchildren, Brad Allen Clemons Jr. and Bella Clemons; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cave City Church of Christ with Dean Fugett officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Clemons, Brad Clemons, Dalton Carpenter, Jeremy Johnson, Kenny Howell and Paden Day.

Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Cossey, Jeral Hastings, Barry Wilkes and Gary Farmer.
