Sherry Pierce

August 26, 1937 — March 25, 2022

Sherry Pierce, 84, of Southside, died Friday, March 25, 2022.  She was born on August 26, 1937, in Paroquet, Arkansas to Melvin McClure and Edith (Donaho) McClure.

Sherry was well known as an employee of Safeway/Harvest-Foods for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served in children's ministries and with the weekly Pioneer Football breakfast. She loved cooking for her family and talking to her many friends. She had the gift of hospitality and welcomed anyone who entered her door, which was always open.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Castleman (Rusty) of Southside; her son, Greg Pierce of Lewisville, TX; six grandchildren, Katee Castleman McAllister (John) of Spartanburg, SC, Mary Farley (Jared) of Arkadelphia, Jesse Pierce of Dallas, TX, Kelsey Pierce of Princeton, TX, Mia Pierce and Ian Pierce of Lakeview; and three sisters-in-law, Fern McClure of Olive Branch, MS, Juanita Louks of Maumelle, and Ruby Owens of Bakersfield, CA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Pierce; sisters Katherine Long and Ada Belle Clark; and brother, Hayden McClure.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Pierce, John McAllister, Kerry Clark, Jeff Johnson, Jeff Ford, Matt Flowers, and Marty Melton.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Jared Farley and Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery at Salado. The family requests that masks be worn at both services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Operation Christmas Child (care of Calvary Baptist Church) or The Gideons International ministry.
