Velma Jo Cockfield McMillian

Velma  Jo Cockfield McMillian, 76, of Batesville left this world to be in the arms of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Velma was surrounded by her loving children and friends whom she loved like her children. 

Velma Jo was retired from Rolling Hills Nursing Center, where she loved her job in activities.  Velma had also worked for many years as a CNA. Velma enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren during her last years. Velma was of the Baptist faith and with the love of her Chaplain Cinda Smith, she was well prepared to meet her Savior.

Velma is survived by a sister, Alice Chizek of Lexington, South Carolina; four children, Steve Davis and his wife Wendy of Jonesboro, Becky Yauilla of Batesville, Roby Davis and his wife Jan of Floral, and Stacy Davis and his wife Andrea of Pleasant Plains; ten grandchildren, Carrie Stone and Jessica Davila both of Batesville, Laura and Emily Davis both of Jonesboro, Andrea Davis of Cave City, Heather Houston of Batesville, Liam Davis, Ethan, Reese, and Katelyn Vanscoder all of Pleasant Plains; six great-grandchildren, Ariana Scarbrough, Alexis Tosh, and Jadelynn Tubbs all of Batesville, Dawson Johnson of Cave City, and Blake and Mason Goforth both of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Sidney Davis; her husband, Darrell McMillian; her mother Velma Lou Cockfield, and her father, W.J. Cockfield. She has also lost many other family members.

Velma was also surrounded by a group of loving and compassionate staff of Arkansas Hospice. The family would like to extend great gratitude to the entire staff at the Batesville office whom Velma loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice Foundation in her honor.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Chaplain Cinda Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
