Wilma Gay (Sherrill) Dockins

Wilma Gay (Sherrill) Dockins age 89 of Batesville passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019. She was born August 23, 1929 in Viola, Arkansas to Ray and Nola (Rush) Sherrill. She married Lester Edward Dockins on September 18, 1946 and they were married for over 50 years and had four children. Wilma was a member of Batesville First Assembly of God Church and was retired from Banquet Foods. She loved family get-togethers and cooking for her family. She had a green thumb and always had a porch and house full of pretty plants and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Gary L. Dockins and one brother, Grady Sherrill.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Dockins (Jeannie) and Tony Dockins (Jill) both of Batesville; one daughter, Patricia Evans, (Stanley) of Springfield, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Julia Dockins of Batesville; nine grandchildren, Chad Dockins, Gary Dockins Jr., Travis Dockins, Lacy Haertlein, and Brady Dockins all of Batesville, Amy Blake of Collierville, Tennessee, Scott Evans and Kimberly Evans of Springfield, Ohio and Tonya Schuler of Centerville, Indiana; one brother, Marvis Sherrill of Old Joe; twenty great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. All of the survivors were blessed to have this wonderful lady as a mother, grandmother and sister.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jeff Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery located near Cushman.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad Dockins, Gary Dockins Jr., Travis Dockins, Brady Dockins and great grandsons, Travis Mitchell Dockins and Trevor Dockins.
