Winola Jean Mize

Winola Jean (Milligan) Mize, 90, of Cave City, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. She was born to Melvin Roy and Lillian Mae Milligan of Milligan Campground at Strawberry, Arkansas on May 4, 1934.

She grew up with her six siblings on Reed’s Creek; living a full childhood even through the depression, including riding a wagon to church and to the Portia Picnic each year. She loved playing basketball at Strawberry High School and playing the tuba in the marching band. She married C.B. Mize on March 3^rd, 1956, after his return from the Korean War and they had two sons, Keith and Kenny Mize. In between careers at the International Shoe Company, White Rodgers and General Tire, she enjoyed watching both boys show horses in Western Pleasures and Speed Events. She even started her own trucking business, Jean Mize Trucking, in the early 1980s. In her later years, she enjoyed daily coffee shop visits with her friends and watching basketball at Cave City Schools. She was a faithful member of the Cave City United Methodist Church and never missed the Milligan Campground reunion.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.B. Mize; her siblings, Maxola Foster, Kimbrew Milligan, Kelmer Milligan and Lanell Crock.

She is survived by her sons, Keith (Sheila Williams) Mize of Cave City, Arkansas and Kenny (LaWanda Fulbright) Mize of Jonesboro, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Joshua (Denise Palmer) Wright of Brighton, Colorado, Heather (Mitchell) Vangilder of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Brandon Mize of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Cody (Mercedes Carter) Mize of Cave City, Arkansas; her great grandchildren, Kyndal and Max Wright of Brighton, Colorado, Harper and Hattie Skinner of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Carter and Case Mize of Cave City, Arkansas; her siblings, Grayden Milligan and Wallase White.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City, Arkansas with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. led by Bro. Bobby Sanders. Interment will follow at Milligan Campground Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Mize, Ernest Ray Doyle, Donald Milligan, Ryan Herndon, Aaron Herndon and Mitchell Vangilder.

Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Mize, Joshua Wright, Joe Allen White, Rick Milligan, Eddie Foster and William Dale Crock.
